Dr Julian Haszard, Orthodontist
Raised on a farm in the Taranaki, the son of a dentist, Julian gained a rich breadth of experience from training and working in NZ, Australia and the UK before coming home to set up his practice in the heart of New Plymouth back in 2010.
As a registered specialist orthodontist, Julian has undergone more than 4,000 hours of specialist training to attain the highest qualification available for assessing, preventing and treating any problems related to the alignment of your teeth and jaws.
Committed to delivering a service that is super modern and super friendly, Julian will always take the time to discuss all available options and solutions to ensure that every patient gets the best possible advice and treatment.
Outside of work, Julian enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, fishing, and climbing on Mt Taranaki. He’s also deeply committed to fund raising and volunteering in Nepal for SmileHigh; a charity he co-founded in 2004.
Hannah recently joined the team at the beginning of the year, after a period of study and raising her two young children. Hannah has worked within general dental and specialist dental practices over the past 17 years and is enjoying being part of the Total Orthodontics team. She is kind and caring by nature and is happy to help with any treatment enquiries. Outside of work Hannah enjoys spending time with her young family, playing netball skiing, and expanding her vegetable garden.
Rene joined the Total Orthodontics team a year ago after moving here from South Africa with her family. She received her Dental Assisting qualification from Pretoria University in 2001 and has always been intrigued by Orthodontics. Rene has great lab work skills and enjoys spending time in the lab to ensure all our lab work is perfect. She has a great sense of humour and gets on well with everyone. In her spare time Rene enjoys gardening and abstract painting as well as spending time with her husband and two sons going biking, fishing and camping.
Jaimee works part-time as one of our Orthodontic Auxiliaries. Jaimee has worked alongside Julian since 2012. She has had 17 years experience in the dental industry working all over New Zealand as well as spending some time in a dental practice in Canada. She became a fully qualified Orthodontic Auxiliary in 2015. Jaimee is a warm and friendly person and is well liked by our patients and staff for her calming reassuring manner. In her spare time, Jaimee likes to keep fit, snowboard and send time with her family. She also regularly travels to Christchurch to see her extended family.
ORTHODONTIC ASSISTANT/TRAINING AUXILIARY
Nicole has recently moved here from Switzerland where she has had 18 years experience as a Dental and Prophylaxis Assistant. Nicole works efficiently and is always happy. She is well liked by patients and other staff members for her kind and caring manner. She also helps out the Taylor Dental team as a Dental Assistant. Nicole is also a qualified yoga teacher and nutrition therapist. In her spare time she enjoys surfing, mountain biking, travelling and cooking.
ORTHODONTIC ASSISTANT/TRAINING AUXILIARY
Chelsea is originally from Canada where she achieved her Dental Assisting certificate and also gained some knowledge of Orthodontics. She lived in Australia last year and worked as a Dental Assistant before moving here in January. Chelsea has had six years experience in dentistry. She is very organised and always has a smile on her face. She is always happy to help and answer any enquires patients have. Chelsea also helps out the Taylor Dental team as a Dental Assistant. In her spare time Chelsea enjoys playing rugby and spending time with her friends experiencing everything New Zealand has to offer.
ORTHODONTIC ASSISTANT/AUXILIARY IN TRAINING
Debbie joined the Total Orthodontics team in 2017 after being a New Zealand registered nurse for eight years. Debbie achieved her NZDA Dental Assisting certificate recently and is currently working towards being a qualified Orthodontic Auxiliary. Debbie is hard working and friendly, she is happy to answer any questions you may have about your orthodontic treatment. She also assists Julian at the Hawera clinic. In her spare time Debbie enjoys going cooking and baking. She loves New Plymouth and finds it a wonderful place to bring up her family.
Gemma’s efficient manner and lab work skills make her a great asset to the team. Previously working in Levin as an experienced dental assistant she moved onto orthodontics and has completed her Orthodontic Auxiliary qualification. Gemma is well liked by our patients for her gentle calming manner. When she is not working, Gemma is a fantastic baker and craftsperson. She will be heading off on maternity leave soon, during her time off she will be enjoying spending time with her new baby.
Rachel is the youngest member of the team and has been working here since finishing school. Having been one of Julian’s first patients Rachel has had an interest in orthodontics from a young age. She understands what orthodontic treatment is like from a patient’s aspect and is always happy to answer any questions you may have. Rachel helps out on reception and also the clinical side of the practice as well as assisting Julian at the Hawera clinic. She also works part-time for a dentist and received her NZDA Dental Assisting qualification recently. She is well liked by the patients and other staff members. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys mountain biking and yoga as well as spending time with her friends and family.
Lorraine works part time as our Office Manager, she is always ready to help with appointments and any administrative enquires that you may have. Lorraine and her daughter have both had braces so she understands what Orthodontic treatment is like from both a patient and parent aspect. Patients and staff members love her happy vibe and sense of humour; it’s hard not to smile when talking to her. She is a motherly person who keeps herself busy with her three kids, horse and dog.
