At our place you’ll feel more like a guest,
less like a patient
It’s natural to feel a little anxious on your first visit which is why one of our top priorities is to make you feel right at home. We’ll introduce ourselves, ask some questions, take some photos and if necessary, grab a quick x-ray. All of this information helps us to give you a close up look at where any problem areas may lie and explain some of the things we can do to improve the result. Our number one aim from this session is that you leave with a much better understanding of any areas that require specialist treatment and why the suggestions we’ve provided you with are the very best for you or your child.
After your first visit we will send you out a treatment plan that lays out all the options, costs and risks involved. We also encourage you to come back in if you wish to discuss any further questions or concerns before making a decision.
Here’s a few of the most common questions we get about living with braces
- What will happen after each adjustment?
It is likely to be sore for about 3-5 days each time the brace is adjusted. If necessary, mild painkillers, like the ones you would take for a headache, may help. If the brace rubs your lips or cheeks, you will be given some wax to help this.
- Can I eat normally?
The good news is Yes. The niggly bit is that there are a few things that we recommend you avoid or take extra care with to make sure your orthodontic treatment works well, and in the shortest possible time.
Here’s the don’t go there list
Toffees, boiled sweets, sugared chewing gum, chocolate bars etc
Soft (fizzy) drinks including diet drinks and excessive amounts of fruit juice
Here’s the handle with care list
Hard foods which might damage the brace such as apples, carrots, crusty bread rolls etc. Make sure you cut them up first.
Hard foods can be eaten with care if you cut them up first.
